This past Sunday I took a class with Barbara Kerr for instructions in learning Entrelac. I have begun my first ever wrap in Noro Silk Garden #84.
Here are the first three rows:
Believe it or not, this entire section took me from 11:00 am until 10:30 pm! This is one entire skein . . . for the last three small rows of 8 stitches I had to tie on the next skein, but for all intents and purposes, this is one skein's worth of knitting. I have this one skein tied on now . . and 9 more on the side. This is approximately 4" in length so far. Using 11 skeins total would give me about 44". To me, that's not enough to wrap around and have some overlap across my chest so I bought 4 more from a user I frequent on eBay.
I have wanted to learn this technique ever since I stumbled upon my friend Caitlyn's blog. One of the first entries of hers that I ever read was the scarf she made for her sister. It was the first time I had ever seen entrelac and it literally took my breath away! I just knew I had to learn how to do this. It has been my ultimate goal (so far) in knitting. Now that I know how to do this . . . I have to come up with something else to set my sights on!! Hmmmm . . probably conquering socks. Catilyn's socks always come out just so perfect and beautiful . . and I'm still struggling trying to figure out the correct sized needles for my tension. *lol* Every time I get going and finish the ribbing, I realize that the sock is just waaaay too loose and I have to start all over again. *sigh* My teacher, Judy, and I will get together (hopefully) this Saturday and hammer out all of my rough spots.
Yeah, it's socks. That's my next goal.
