« a new level | Main | Chevron yarn and . . I won! »

he makes me happy

Last night I had an enjoyable evening knitting at my LYS, Fiber Arts (located in Odessa, FL), with my new knitting buddy Phoebe. I met her along with my new other buddy, Christine, at Barnes & Noble this past Saturday for a little STR knitting. We had such fun chatting about yarn, KALs, and people who just don't get our obsession with knitting! I can't wait to knit with them again. I hope we get together soon!

Unfortunately, they're the only one's who knitted socks that day . . I haven't been able to get working properly on my first pair . . . arrrgh!! I started out on US2 and realized rather quickly that I will have to go down to either a US1 or US0. I have them on order from KnitPicks . . but I'm sure they're on a slow boat from overseas. ;) I shoulda picked second day air for the shipping!!!

Anyway . . . to get on the topic . . .

I got home last night from knitting and . . . John had gone through our place and put away all of the remaining boxes of stuff we had lying about . . things we really couldn't find a place for. When I first moved down here and we were bringing my things into the apartment, he was pretty adamant about -- "No baskets all over the place!" Well, I come in last night and . . . I see that he's displayed all of my Longaberger baskets in the built in desk area we have in our apartment and had gone out to find a hutch or similar item for me to put all of my cookbooks and recipes in. He tried to make it to one of those Barewood places . . so that I could stain and decorate it myself . . . but the store had already closed. He also wants to get me a cedar chest for all of my knitting.

I couldn't believe all of this. I'm just melting thinking of how wonderful he is. Every day he surprises me and shows me just how much he loves me. I waited years and years and never thought he'd show up . . but he did - the guy I always dreamed of. :) I think I'm a lucky girl!!

Here are just a few of the 84 or so Longabager baskets I have that John put on display for me:

All yesterday and into the evening I worked on my purse for my Knitters of Avalon KAL. I think it's coming along pretty well. The pattern is from the Summer 2004 issue of Knitter's Magazine. I've decided to knit this twice -- one in the crimson reddish color you see here for Morgaine, and the second one will be in light lavender for Guinevere. So far this is coming along nicely and not as difficult as I had originally thought. I think I will have it done in a day or two.

All in all, a productive few days. I also managed on Sunday to clean out my walk-in closet . . which means: Stash has been reorganized. I believe I still have the software program from Emy that categorizes your yarn hoard. I'll have to go through my old emails to see if I can find it.

Happy Tuesday knitting!!

Love the Longabergers. I'm not that far from the Homestead. I'd say it's worth the trip if you are really into the baskets.

You asked about the Huggable Hedgehog pattern over at the HP KAL. I'm currently on my 6th. I have a little write up about the pattern on my blog.

Happy knitting. The Hedgies are addictive.

Em:

What a lovely post! Aren't knitting friends the best? I feel the same about my yarn gang here in Burlington.
And what a lovely fella! Those last few boxes are always the biggest struggle for us- how kind and thoughtful he did that for you!
And thanks for the HP book cover update. I'd never seen the British cover before- it's intense!
Glad you're well!

I'm visiting your blog for the first time and you've got a great layout. How do you add the percentage button jpegs to your project list? I'm working on blogger and don't know where to find the buttons like that. Please help if you can.

John sounds like a great guy. I like those baskets. Okay, now I have to go to Fiber Arts soon. I just wish it wasn't about an hour's drive :-(

I had fun last night too. Yes, please put aside the Velvet Grapes for me...I'll know if I need it later this week. Thanks! It looks like we have some of the same baskets =)
