I've been bit by the entrelac bug. I haven't been able to put my wrap down for the last couple of days. Here's a picture showing my progress so far. I took it out on the porch in full sunlight so you could see the beautiful colors in a different light. Yes, sorry to say . . we're having 80+ degree weather here in sunny Florida and I'm knitting a woolen wrap.
I'm only on my second skein! Nine more to go. My only concern so far has been that the right side seems to be pulling the darker colors of the skeins. I'm hoping that as this goes further the color changes will even out and balance this a bit better. Right now it's standing out for me because it's still in the smaller stage. After this, I think I may start on a Clapotis for my next long-term project.
Unfortunately and heartbreakingly (is that a word? it should be in this case) my strawberry jam did not set. I processed an entire flat . . three batches worth . . and all I got was strawberry syrup. I have no idea why it didn't work this time. I tried something different for each batch but it never seemed to jell up. Oh well. No strawberry jam this year.
My friend Caitlyn told me about the Chevron Scarf from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. I'm happy that I already own this book. This scarf seems to be the current rage amongst a lot of bloggers and online Flickr folks. Hello new little bug . . go ahead . . bite hard! I've already ordered my skeins of yarn for this!! I'll let you know more when they arrive . . but I'm going to knit it with Blue Moon Fiber Arts' Rockin' Socks Yarn. I won't say yet which colorways I chose . . but I can say that I'm going with heavyweight since the mediumweight is no longer being sold (at least as far as I know, for now). I'll just have to adjust my guage and needle size . . but it shouldn't matter too much for a scarf. Besides, I like them to come out a little larger and thicker. It must be the Buffalo (NY) in me that appreciates a super warm and larger, thick scarf.
UPDATE: This blogger has designed Chevron mitts in the style of the scarf. Beautiful!!

I know exactly what you mean about Yarn That Won't Be Knit! I have some too..
For your strawberry jam...strawberries are known to be difficult to set. They should be slightly under-ripe - definitely never over-ripe. They are deficient in acid which is needed for a set so it's a good idea to add lemon juice (2tablespoons) or citric or tartaric acid (1/2 level teaspoon) for 4lbs of fruit. I'm assuming you had the correct prportions of sugar and you don't need water with strawberries. Don't give up!! Home made jam is the best.

Is that the Lady Eleanor shawl? Noro? It's gorgeous. I think the colors will even out, or you could try knitting from the opposite end of the next skein.
Sorry about your strawberry jam. Making jam is another on my long list of things I want to learn to do.

It's not that the mediumweight is no longer being sold, it's that it's not currently being sold. The base yarn is out of stock, hopefully will be available again 1st week of April.
Your shawl is fabulous looking. Love those Noro colors.
