I've made it through the first week of my new job. How did it go? As far as I'm concerned I got extremely lucky with this one! Yeah, the pay won't be the greatest in the beginning . . but the perks and benefits are too good to be believed and I have so much room to grow and learn and move up. I hope this outlook and attitude stay for good! I'm still in "training" and I believe I will still be for some time to come. The other girl that was hired to work alongside me does not start until the 30th and I think my immediate supervisor is kind of holding back and dragging things out until then so that he won't have to go through things twice. I understand completely and don't blame him at all.
As for knitting . . uhm, what is that again, exactly???
Seriously. I need some help. I don't know what's wrong with me. As far as I'm able to guage, I have not knit anything -- at all -- in about 5 weeks. I've just - stopped. I do not know why or what for. I still think about knitting all the time. I still feel the needles in my hands and the yarn slipping through my fingers. But I have not done anything in SO long. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get through this? I have set aside time and told myself that I'm going to knit at X time for however long . . . but then when the time comes I'm either doing something different already or I completely forget. How can I break this?!?!?
I NEED HELP

What I do to get over periodic slumps is that I always have a project with me. I always carry at least a little sock project or something so that I can take it out and do a few rows here and there.
Putting aside an assigned time to knit is making it akin to exercise, cleaning the house and other things we don't want to do.
Have it handy so that you can do a little bit any time the mood hits.
Knit ON!

Glad your new job is going well!
I think I've found the yarn and pattern for your socks! I'm swatching so we'll see how it turns out, but I wonder, how high do you like your socks? Maybe you prefer something closer to an anklet given the heat in Florida? Personally I like tall socks, but these aren't for me!

I alway look for yarn that gets me excited on www.purlsoho.com, or I check out new patterns, I just bought the new Fitted Knits book and that has gotten me inspired.
Glad you new job is going well!

Congrats on the job, glad to hear it is going so well.
When I lose my knitting mojo, I can usually get it back by starting a new project that inspires me, or casting on something mindless that I can work on just to get back into the flow of things. Busting out a quick little hat for charity, stash diving, or ummmmmm buying gorgeous new sock yarn also gets me back on the knitting wagon. Don't worry, you'll pick the needles back up soon.

If we meet up on Tuesday, we'll force you back into knitting. Being forced to do something always makes me happy about it. ;-)

Hey Les!
Glad to hear your first week went well.
As far as your knitting, just give it time. Some times little breaks from it are what give us the inspiration we need.
I wouldn' go buy anything, I would just pick up your chevron, and try to beat me to the finish line! :)
(my bet is you will win)!!!

I bet once you get settled a bit in your new job you'll start knitting again. The past 5 weeks you've broken out of your routine by going on job interviews and starting a new job. That can be stressful. I like Brooke's idea :-)

Hey mama! Glad to hear all is well in workland :) Thank you so much for the warm welcome back! It's taking me a bit of energy to get back into the swing of things. Regarding your knitting slump, I think you should go out and buy the most outrageously fabulous yarn that you've ever dreamed of, and knit something up with that. You'll look forward to it and feel guilty if it just sits there- guilt works wonders ;) lol! Talk to you soon-
