hypoteneuse redux

I just realized that I made a mistake about the hypoteneuse shawl that I'm doing . . and I incorrectly stated it in my previous post. Yes, the pattern has 5x pattern chart -- for the WIDTH. However, the length requires you do that 5x -- 17 times for the LENGTH. I don't know why I misread and thought I was only supposed to do 5 rows. So, I will have more than enough yarn to do the 17 rows for the length . . and maybe do one or two more if I think I want it longer.

Sorry for the mix up!

Emy:

I couldn't comment on the next entry, but I wanted to point out something about the Paton's SWS and felting - felting works better when the item is knit or crocheted loose before you start, because it allows the item to move around and the yarn has some room to contract. If you started your granny square at a tension that was more appropriate for the yarn, rather than going up a few hook sizes, that may have inhibited its ability to felt.

Does that make sense?

Your dishcloth questions are perfectly reasonable, in fact I may go tweak my pattern to make it more clear.

Use color A, your main color, when joining the ruffle to the cloth. And I knit all the ruffles in sequence. Attach one, cut yarn, make ruffle, attach it, cut yarn, etc. You could also make them all at the same time (still cutting the yarn so they are separate) and keep them on stitch holders until you're ready to attach.

Have fun. I'm dying to see this dishcloth in other colors!
